Have you heard about the story of forest guard Palanichamy Sarathkumar, who carried an elephant calf on his shoulders after rescuing it? We’ll tell you more here. The incident occurred in 2017 and over the past few years, several pictures of Palanichamy surfaced on the internet. Now, a video of the forest guard was posted to Twitter by Susanta Nanda of the Indian Forest Services earlier this week and has gone viral again.

In December 2017, an elephant calf accidentally fell into a ditch and was rescued by Palanichamy. The forest guard carried the calf on his shoulders and helped the baby to reunite with his mother. The video posted by Susanta Nanda provides a glimpse of the incident.

“Superman. A calf got stuck in mud after falling into a canal. Officials from the Mettupalayam forest rescued the calf but it got separated from its mother. Not to lose time, Palanichamy Sarathkumar carried the calf to reunite it with the herd. Commitment at its best,” Susanta Nanda said in the caption of his post.

The old video of Palanichamy went viral again with over 8,000 views. “Salute to the officer who carried the calf on his shoulders,” a user said in the comments section. Another user added, “God bless all the forest officers.”
